Key Features
- Culinary Use: Caraway seeds are widely used in cooking, particularly in rye bread, cheeses, sauerkraut, and various pastries. They have a distinctive, slightly sweet, yet slightly bitter flavor, reminiscent of anise.
- Medicinal Properties: Historically, caraway has been used for digestive issues. It's known for its carminative properties, which means it helps relieve gas and bloating. The essential oil in caraway seeds can also aid in digestion.
- Nutritional Benefits: Caraway seeds are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and several minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron. They also contain vitamins like vitamin C, vitamin E, and some B vitamins, contributing to their health benefits.
- Agricultural Aspect: Caraway plants are biennial; they flower in their second year. The seeds are harvested when they turn brown. The plant prefers temperate climates and well-drained soil, making regions like the Netherlands, Poland, and Germany significant producers.
- Quality: All seeds packaged by Seed Needs are intended for the current and the following growing seasons. All seeds are stored in a temperature controlled facility that is free of significant amounts of moisture.
- Quantity: Seed Needs offers generous quantities. You can share with friends and family, or you can save the extra seeds until the following season, if properly stored.
- Packets: Each seed packet displays an artful illustration of the variety to be grown, as well as detailed seed sowing information on the reverse side. They measure 3.5" wide by 5" tall.
- Promise: Seed Needs will never knowingly supply GMO based seed products. The vast majority of our seeds are open pollinated & heirloom, with the exception of a few hybrids.
- Germination: Seed Needs packets contain some of the freshest seed available. Direct from the growers. If sown correctly, you will begin seeing results in only a matter of days.
- Freshness - All seeds are packaged in tear resistant and moisture resistant packaging. This keeps the seeds a whole lot fresher than the competitions selection!

Description
Grow a garden filled with aromatic Caraway herbs, from freshly harvested Carum carvi seeds. Caraway seed will produce plants that reach a mature height of 18 to 24 inches tall. Each plant displays fine, feathery leaves, accented with white or pink flowers, formed in umbels. The plants are known to attract an array of beneficial insects during the summer months, when the blooms are open. Caraway is categorized as a biennial flowering herb, which establishes itself quickly, within the first growing season. The plants then wilt on the surface, when the first frost arrives. Each plant will then later return the following year, from deeply established roots, growing on the surface to produce its flowers and seed. Caraway seeds can be collected from the dried blooms, a few short weeks after the flowers have withered and dried.
